We at Palm Shore Apartments hold our community's health, along with that of our employees, as our highest priority. The situation has continued to evolve concerning COVID-19 and we have continued to employ precautionary measures and procedures to protect our tenants and employees.
At the writing of this post, Galveston County's confirmed cases per 100k population is 552.55 cases, outpacing Harris County's 490.51 confirmed cases per 100k population. Daily new case counts are slowly rising, and it is important to remain cognizant of COVID-19 when conducting your daily activities.
We have put together a list of precautionary measures that our community members, as well as any apartment dweller, can take to protect themselves, their families, and the communities in which they live in.
Wash Your Hands
One of the most important actions you can take to protect yourself and your neighbors is to wash your hands frequently and for at least 20 seconds with soap and water. COVID-19 spread has been traced to close contacts, or coming into contact with the droplets produced when an infected person speaks, coughs or sneezes. These droplets are too heavy to travel far in the air, and quickly settle on surfaces. Since it is impossible to refrain from touching all surfaces, it is of upmost importance to wash your hands thoroughly and often.
Avoid Touching Your Eyes and Face
Since you cannot have sanitized hands at all times, it is important to refrain from touching your eyes or face in the interim since contaminated hands can transfer the virus from surfaces to yourself. When out in public, it is advisable to always wear a mask as a reminder to refrain from touching your eyes and face, as well as to reduce the probability of spreading contaminated droplets to common surfaces. It is also advisable to carry alcohol-based hand rub with you on the go in order to sanitize your hands when you are away from your home.
Keep Your Apartment Home Clean
Be sure to clean all "high traffic" areas of your home - these include countertops, tabletops, doorknobs, nightstands, bathroom fixtures, toilets, appliance handles, TV remotes, cell phones, computer keyboards, and tablets. Sanitize these areas often by using items like Lysol, Clorox, and good ole fashioned soap and water.
Limit Usage of Common Areas
While the Palm Shore Apartments staff has taken extra precautions to disinfect and keep our laundry facilities clean and safe, it is of upmost importance that you avoid using common areas as much as possible. Be sure to send only one occupant per household to wash clothes for the entire home, ideally no more than once a week. Always practice social distancing when loading and unloading laundry - be courteous of your fellow community members by allowing them to exit the laundry facility before you enter to retrieve or load your laundry.
